Welcome to the GBLUR Centre for Sexuality and Gender Diversity Inc.
The GBLUR Centre for Sexuality and Gender Diversity is a not-for-profit resource centre run by students for the whole community. Our job is to provide support and resources for lesbian/gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, or queers at the University. We are available to ALL students and stuff, regardless of sexual orientation, who have questions of either a personal, or professional nature.
GBLUR designs and delivers workshops on request for students or staff. We also give interviews and maintain a library of reliable, cutting edge research on gender studies and LGBTIQ issues. During the fall and winter semesters, we employ a full time Director who can provide confidential counselling and referrals for LGBTIQ students seeking queer-friendly mental health or pastoral care. We also provide sexual health information and safer sex supplies to anyone, with no questions asked.
Our Drop-In Lounge is open to anyone (even non-students) from 10:00am to 6:30pm, Monday to Friday, and can be booked for other groups or events during evenings and weekends. Don't be shy. The Lounge belongs to you and is there for you to use. It's a great place to meet new friends, learn about new or different ideas, or just hang-out in an environment that is safe and free from homophobia and transphobia. You don't have to be gay to be there; in fact, many of our regular members are straight.
GBLUR believes strongly in respect for people of all religions and cultures. Our members include: Aboriginal Canadians, Wiccans, Muslims, Jews, and Agnostics. All opinions are welcome, provided that they are expressed in a respectful and friendly manner.
U of R Students can be proud of the GBLUR Centre. It was founded and built by students themselves and is currently one of Canada's leading LGBTIQ student centres.
